A NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Dear potential new member,

Thank you for coming to our website to learn more about the Lambda Sigma chapter of Delta Zeta. Here, you will have a small glimpse into what life is like as a sister of Delta Zeta at Winthrop University. I joined Delta Zeta in the Fall of 2022 as a freshman. I wanted to join an organization to find friends in college, but I chose Delta Zeta because I saw the genuine lifelong connections I could make. I saw the way each sister deeply cared about one another and I wanted to have it too. Delta Zeta isn't just another sorority. It is built on empowerment, generosity, community, belonging, and curiosity. These values, which were created in 1902, are what make us unique. As a chapter, we strive everyday to grow academically, philanthropically, and sisterly. Joining Delta Zeta has helped me to develop into the woman I never imagined or thought I would be but so thankful that I am today. It is important for us to find members who embody our creed which states to "walk truly in the light of the flame." This means to live everyday as a true Delta Zeta sister by remembering our teachings and values. We love having you explore our site and I can only hope you find in Delta Zeta exactly what I did when I was in your shoes.

MEET OUR NEW MEMBER EDUCATOR!

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME NEW MEMBER MOM?

I became New Member Mom because I wanted to help create a supportive and loving environment for the new members. Because joining a sorority can be exciting, but overwhelming at times, I feel that it is important to help these girls as a resource, guide, and friend to them to help them navigate through their transition!

The New Member Mom is the Vice President of New Member Education. She prepares our New Members for initiation by teaching them Delta Zeta history, our creed, rituals, values, and general processes. This year, the Pledge Class of 2025's New Member Educator is Caroline Hammond.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED FOR DURING YOUR TERM?

I am most excited to build strong relationships with the new members and to help them feel at home in our sisterhood. I am also excited to plan events to make their experience more memorable and meaningful!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT DELTA ZETA?

My favorite thing about Delta Zeta is always being able to find support, encouragement, and belonging, and the lifelong friends it has given me. Another thing that I really love is how our values inspire us to make a difference and empower one another to make us grow into the best versions of ourselves.

WHAT DO YOU WANT POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS TO KNOW BEFORE FALL RECRUITMENT?

Don't be afraid to be yourself, remember that it's not about impressing others; it's about finding a sisterhood that aligns with your values and makes you feel at home. Keep an open mind and trust the process, and it's completely okay to ask questions along the way!
